Here we have a video showcasing Khiem Tran's invention of a pair of scissors with a partial loop on the thumb ring. I did this video for him back in 2005 to give the patent office better insight to what he was trying to produce. Near the end you can see alot of slow motion shots to give some insight to the technique that accompanies the scissors. You also get to hear yours truly narrate the video. The video track was recorded seperately in a sound insulated room with the Sony VX2000's mic. Not bad for stock.
Khiem is a Vietnamese hair styler here in Bay City, Michigan. He has his own shop on South Euclid at the Ionia intersection. (little shop next to the Marathon gas station) He does some great work. If I can dig up the website, I'll post a link here ASAP. Otherwise it's up to you to get out the phone book. Reminded he's Vietnamese so his english may be a little hard to understand, but the guy's doing a pretty good job at learning another language.
Shooting this video was a little uncomfortable for awhile, basically film people getting their hair cut. The footage is from two people getting their hair trimmed by Khiem. The girl you can see in the clip was awesome. She came along with her sister and mother. Alot of the shots she's in, she's smiling, probably because I was flirting up a storm with her. Never did see her again. Kicking myself in the ass for not asking "wuts yo digitz, grrrrrl?". (In that exact wording.) Good times.
Camera; Sony VX2000. Edited with Vegas Video 4. Music; Pinback's "Shag". Narration by Michael Szczepanski. Filmed at Khiem Tran's salon.
